In particular the timeline covers important developments and events concerning deposit insurance, including the nineteenth and early twentieth century antecedents to the FDIC; the FDIC's establishment during the Great Depression; the banking and thrift crises of the 1980s and early 1990s; and the Global Financial Crisis and Great Recession in the late 2000s as well as more recent events.
