A bar chart that shows the percentage of banks that have increased their exposure to longer-term assets between 2006 and mid-2009. In 2006, longer-term assets were the majority of assets at only 11 percent of banks, and were slightly less than the majority (40-50%) at 12.8 percent of banks. These numbers increased slightly in 2007, where longer-term assets were the majority at 11.9 percent and slightly less than the majority at 14 percent. In 2008, the longer-term asset holdings increased more significantly, with 17.9 percent having a majority and 19.6 percent having slightly less than a majority in these assets. By mid-2009, the percentages were more equal, with 19.6 percent of banks having a majority and 19.6 percent of banks having slightly less than a majority in longer-term assets.
