The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) will host the webinar FDIC Programs and Resources to Help Consumers Build Savings During Tax Season directed to financial institutions and community-based organizations interested in learning about programs that help low- and moderate-income consumers open affordable insured bank accounts and save money during tax season.
The webinar will cover topics such as:
- Strategies to promote free tax filing assistance to low- and moderate-income households through the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Credit for the Elderly (TCE) programs.
- FDIC initiatives such as 'FDIC Tax Time Savings' and 'GetBanked.'
- How to implement free FDIC consumer education resources to help individuals set financial goals, create spending and savings plans, and build an emergency fund leveraging tax refunds.
- Recommendations and best practices to educate consumers on fraud prevention during tax season.
Financial education is central to FDIC efforts to expand economic inclusion and promote confidence in the banking system. This national webinar and the FDIC Money Smart program offer high-quality, non-copyrighted, free financial education resources for banks, schools, non-profits, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders to help improve the financial capability of people of all ages.
