The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and Northwest Indiana Community Action (NWICA) will host a hybrid meeting focusing on expanding bank account access for the unbanked and underbanked residents of Jasper, Lake, LaPorte, Newton, Porter, Pulaski, and Starke counties. This convening will encourage an open discussion of how financial institutions can support the Northern Indiana Bank On Alliance as it re-establishes relationships to help make safe, affordable transactional accounts available to low- and moderate-income residents in these areas. Presenters will make the case for relaunching the Northern Indiana Bank On Alliance and Cities for Financial Empowerment (CFE) Fund will present the National Account Standards, a certification process. Local representatives of financial institutions with Bank On certified products will discuss the benefits of Bank On, including Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) considerations.
Presenters:
- Yvette Johnson, Financial Services Manager, NWICA
- Sydney Ruben, Associate, CFE Fund
- Samantha Sherrod, Community Affairs Specialist, FDIC
