The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) will host Heirs’ Property and Economic Challenges in Alabama. The roundtable is designed to broaden the understanding of how to manage challenges related to heirs’ property and explore ways to resolve ownership and succession barriers. Heirs’ property challenges disproportionately affect socially and economically disadvantaged families in urban and rural communities and can have a wider economic impact. The roundtable will feature representatives from government agencies and community development organizations who will introduce programs and procedures that can lead to clear property titles. Participating bankers will learn about opportunities to provide lending, services, and investments, while helping bridge heirs’ property gaps.
