FDIC Chairman Jelena McWilliams informs bank customers about the ways the FDIC is working with banks to help during the Corona pandemic.
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act has established several new programs administered by the Small Business Administration (SBA). These programs are designed to provide relief to small businesses during the course of this national emergency so small businesses can sustain their operations and keep their workers employed.
The FDIC is working with the SBA to help ensure that FDIC-supervised banks have the information they need to become SBA-certified lenders and start making loans to small businesses through the SBA's recently launched Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).
