Failed Bank Information for Citizens Bank of Effingham, Springfield, GA

On Friday, February 18, 2011, Citizens Bank of Effingham was closed by the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance. The FDIC was named Receiver. Heritage Bank of the South, Albany, GA acquired all deposit accounts.

The FDIC as Receiver for Citizens Bank of Effingham, Springfield, GA has taken all actions necessary to terminate the Receivership Estate. The Receiver published a legal notice of intent to terminate the receivership on January 17, 2018 and has made all dividend distributions required by law.

Effective May 1, 2018, the Receiver was discharged and the Receivership Estate was terminated and ceased existence as a legal entity.

Receivership Status: TERMINATED

About Heritage Bank of the South

All deposit accounts, excluding certain brokered deposits, were transferred to Heritage Bank of the South, Albany, GA ("assuming institution"). Former Citizens Bank of Effingham locations reopened as branches of Heritage Bank of the South.

Your transferred deposits were separately insured from any accounts you may have already had at Heritage Bank of the South for at least six months after the failure of Citizens Bank of Effingham.

You may withdraw your funds from any transferred account without an early withdrawal penalty until you enter into a new deposit agreement with Heritage Bank of the South as long as the deposits are not pledged as collateral for loans.
