The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has asked the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to alert all FDIC-supervised banks to the theft of bank note security paper from the Denver County (Colorado) Vital Statistics Office. The paper was sent to a private disposal company for destruction on January 22, 2002; however, one of the pieces of security paper that was supposed to be destroyed was recently presented at a Social Security Office in the form of a birth certificate. It is not known how much of the paper was actually destroyed or how much may be in circulation. These are not the same documents reported in FIL-41-2002 , dated May 2, 2002. The items stolen include:
