The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Board of Directors has approved the attached final rule revising the risk-based and leverage capital standards. The final rule will take effect April 1, 1999. However, institutions may choose to apply the rule beginning March 2, 1999. The FDIC's rule is being issued jointly with the rules of the Federal Reserve Board, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and the Office of Thrift Supervision.
