To increase the public’s awareness of deposit insurance and how it can protect people’s money in the event of a bank’s failure, the FDIC developed a national consumer campaign, “Know Your Risk. Protect Your Money.” The campaign reaches people who may have lower confidence in the U.S. banking system or who are unbanked, as well as those who use mobile payment systems, alternative banking services and financial products that may appear to be FDIC-insured but are not.
Spread the Word
We are inviting financial institutions, community organizations, government agencies, and others who serve the public to help raise awareness of deposit insurance protections.
- Link to FDIC’s Deposit Insurance page from your website (also available en español).
- Publish posts on your own social media channels using the materials on our social media toolkit page and including our hashtag, #IsYourMoneyInsured.
- Review the campaign launch press release to learn more, and please contact us if you are interested in sharing deposit insurance information or featuring a subject matter expert in your publication, on your show, or on your podcast.
Teacher Resources
The FDIC and the curriculum specialists at Young Minds Inspired (YMI) have developed “Know Your Risk: Spending, Saving, and Protecting Your Money,” a new financial education resource designed for grades 9–12.
These free, classroom-ready activities explore money management, deposit insurance, and builds on the FDIC’s financial education program, Money Smart, to help students evaluate financial risks and protect their money. Help set up your students for success by equipping them with the skills to make smart financial decisions, now and in the future.
