Current Accounting Issues Telephone Seminar Seminar Open to Bank Officers and Employees of FDIC-Supervised Banks

Summary: The FDIC will host a free telephone seminar on several accounting issues of current interest to bankers. The seminar will be held on September 24, 2008, and run approximately two hours. Employees of all FDIC-supervised banks are invited to participate. 


 

Highlights: 

  • The FDIC's Current Accounting Issues Telephone Seminar will be conducted by Chief Accountant Robert Storch on September 24, 2008, beginning at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
  • Bank officers and employees will have an opportunity to participate in this free telephone seminar.
  • The seminar will consist of a one-hour presentation followed by a one-hour question-and-answer period. Topics to be addressed include allowances for loan and lease losses, troubled debt restructurings, other real estate owned, impairment of securities, and transfers of financial assets.
  • Advance registration is required for the seminar. Instructions for registering are provided on page 2.
  • PowerPoint slides are an integral part of the seminar presentation. Participants are encouraged to have a copy of the slides with them during the presentation. Links to the PowerPoint presentation – in both PowerPoint and Acrobat Reader (PDF) formats – are provided on page 2.

Current Accounting Issues Telephone Seminar 
 

The FDIC is offering a free telephone seminar on several accounting issues of current interest to bankers. The seminar will be held at 2:00 p.m. EDT on September 24, 2008, and run approximately two hours. It will consist of a one-hour presentation by Chief Accountant Robert Storch followed by a question-and-answer period. The Q&A session is expected to last approximately one hour. Topics to be covered include allowances for loan and lease losses, troubled debt restructurings, other real estate owned, impairment of securities, and transfers of financial assets. The seminar is available to employees of all FDIC-supervised banks.

How to Register for the Current Accounting Issues Telephone Seminar 

Participants must register for the seminar at least two business days before the September 24, 2008, event by following these procedures:

  • Click on www.mymeetings.com/rsvp .
  • Enter "6816809" for the conference identification number.
  • Enter "2648761" for the pass code.
  • Leave the PIN number blank.
  • Click on the "Proceed" button.
  • On the next page provide your name and e-mail address, then click the "Proceed" button. No additional information is needed.

At the conclusion of this process, you should receive an e-mail confirmation with the PIN needed to join the telephone seminar on September 24, 2008. If you do not receive a confirmation, check your e-mail address and repeat the registration process.
