FDIC to Convene Meeting of its Advisory Committee on Economic Inclusion
On Wednesday, May 24, at 9:00 a.m. ET, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) will convene a meeting of its Advisory Committee on Economic Inclusion (ComE-IN). The FDIC Board of Directors established the ComE-IN in November 2006 to provide the agency with advice and recommendations on important initiatives to expand access to banking services for underserved populations.
The agenda will include updates from Committee members about key challenges facing their communities or organizations. There will also be panel discussions on opportunities for agencies that administer government benefit programs to harness "bankable moments" as a successful approach to encourage unbanked households to join the banking system as well as presentations by banks and community-based organizations about programs designed to increase bank access. The agenda is subject to change. Any changes to the agenda will be announced at the beginning of the meeting. Read the full agenda.
